Developer Contest: Drupal and Twilio Join Forces for DrupalCon

As the cloud communication IaaS Twilio is often seen supporting the open source community, this year these guys decided to “join forces” with Drupal at DrupalCon Denver 2012.

What you have to do, is create a Drupal module with Twilio integration and submit your work here, by March 19. Submissions will further be reviewed by Drupal megaminds like lead developer of VoIP Drupal – Leo Burd and co-founder of ChapterThree – Matt Cheney.

The three best projects will be presented by their owners on stage at DrupalCon Denver 2012. But this is not just it! The best submissions will also be rewarded:

  • Third place: Unique Twilio VIP swag
  • Second place: Kindle Fire and Twilio T-shirt
  • First Place: Macbook Air and Twilio track jacket.

If you don’t have a chance to attend DrupalCon Denver, you can still submit your project and if you get picked as a winner – receive a Kindle Fire.

Core Conversations at DrupalCon Denver

“Core conversations” is an event taking place at most of DrupalCon’s, and this year is no exception.

It is the contributors that keep the Drupal community alive and improve it greatly and Core Conversations’ main subject is talking about how you can help in doing that as well. Many of you are contributors, or would like to do that, so in this case this event is exactly where you should be.

You can present your own ideas and be a future contributor, or you could just give tips on how to improve the Drupal core – anything goes as long as you are willing to share.

All you have to do is gather your great ideas and submit a proposal as soon as possible.

Responsive first: Design and Build a site for all devices

Being a developer needs lots of time to learn everything there is to be learned and master the code in order to get the best results in short time. Designing for desktop computers only, is old news already; hence responsive design is what comes next – being compatible with desktop widescreens, tablets and mobile devices.

DrupalCon Dever is one of the places where you can learn how to develop your own wireframes, CSS, content strategy and rich media content, all of this from the responsive web design approach.

Organized by the well-known web design company “Four Kitchens”, this training promises to deliver not only essential skills on the way to mastering responsive design, but also a fun environment to learn and meet other people with similar interests.
